Think more deeply

Image
Some people never pick up a book to read after their formal education; what a waste! I heard that if you put your arm in a sling for six months without using it; it will atrophy. What do you think will happen to your brain if you don't read challenging, thought-provoking or stimulating books in a year? You cannot think more deeply than your vocabulary will allow you to.  (Robert Niederholer) At the end of the day a man’s most valuable possessions are his books and journals which contain not just chronicles of the days lived but his greatest insights and deepest thoughts plus his reflections upon the collected books and upon his life.  (Andrew Eyeoyibo) Reading can make you a more interesting individual. Those who are well-read are likely to be quite knowledgeable and interesting. The book-knowledge just seeps from them. Even if they don't always know all the details, they can often converse on some of the most interesting literary topics! It's true! If you've read a gre

No pleasure so lasting

The ability to read is an awesome gift, enabling you not just to perform tasks like reading the instructions for the use of new electrical equipment, or reading the signs to where you’re going or reading the label on a can of food in the supermarket, but so you can enjoy life through reading jokes, letters, prose, poetry etc. If you want to travel but can't afford the ticket, through reading you can imagine walking along a sandy and sunny seashore, skiing down snowy mountain slopes, sleeping in a field of flowers, or adventuring in an African Safari. Your holiday destinations are quite frankly practically limitless. No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting.  (Mary Wortley Montagu) Books are magical, people can find a new world through the power of the written word. Books have a certain kind of enchantment about them; they are able to catapult you to a different world in the twinkling of an eye. Between the covers of a book exists a sort of paradise. All

A real life-transforming habit

Image
Reading is life-transforming and can help us achieve our full potential and lead a richer life. Reading can transform your life because the more you read, the more you know. The more you read, the more you can imagine. The more you read, the better you understand other people and this can help enhance your relationships and consequently improve your life. When the message of a book is rightly phrased, it could pass your defences, enter your heart and explode silently and effectively within your mind and change you from the inside out. The Bible is generally accepted by Christians as God’s word to humankind. That being the case, one could say God chose to communicate his thoughts to humanity through a book. Millions are known to have been greatly inspired and transformed by it. A reader today; a leader tomorrow. ( W. Fusselman) I suggest that the only books that influence us are those for which we are ready and which have gone a little further down our particular path than we have gone

The most powerful habit for success

Image
It doesn't matter how huge a door is: if you have the right key, the door will open. The habit of reading is the key that will open many doors. Books are idea containers, books are liberators. Countries ruled by oppressors try to prevent people from reading or monitor what people can read. You maintain oppression by maintaining ignorance. Knowledge is light. Therefore if you want to keep people in darkness, keep knowledge away from them; keep books away from them; in other words keep them ignorant. The saying: if you want to keep something away from a fool, hide it in a book, comes to mind. Research shows that mental activity boosts resistance to dementia. Study after study has found that older people who were mentally engaged doing things like reading and writing, or taking part in hobbies or games, stayed mentally sharper and were less at risk of Alzheimer's than those who were not. While keeping your mind active generally seemed to go together with greater mental sharpness,

Simple Habits - Outstanding Results

Image
You don't put your valuables within easy reach of children. Similarly, life puts valuable things on higher levels, so you can reach them by the books you stand upon. Success is not what you achieve, it's what you attract by the person you have become; the person you become through reading, learning, self-development and personal growth. Be careful not to neglect doing the small things in your life that make the big things happen. According to the book 'Read and soar' by Yomi Akinpelu, reading is a simple habit that can make extraordinary things happen. You are the same today as you'll be in five years except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet. (Charlie ‘Tremendous’ Jones) Jack Canfield, the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, said he had read over 3000 books by reading a small daily 'dose' every day. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the number-one books on the Best Seller’s List at the same time. The daily habit of rea
