Similarly, life puts valuable things on higher levels, so you can reach them by the books you stand upon. Success is not what you achieve, it's what you attract by the person you have become; the person you become through reading, learning, self-development and personal growth. Be careful not to neglect doing the small things in your life that make the big things happen. According to the book 'Read and soar' by Yomi Akinpelu, reading is a simple habit that can make extraordinary things happen.

You are the same today as you'll be in five years except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the number-one books on the Best Seller’s List at the same time. The daily habit of reading transformed the life of Terri from having no goals, no vision, and no money. Less than ten years later, she is an author of many books, international speaking engagements, a YouTube channel with millions of viewers, money in the bank, a lovely home and much more. She is not alone; many thousands have had their lives transformed by the simple habit of reading great books.

Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life. As I pondered on this phrase I realised the acuity of these words. Books provide us with the insight and inspiration we need to climb swiftly in order to reach our goals in life. A good book will draw out from within you courage and perception that you never knew you possessed. Books are ladders for advancement to greatness.

Brian Tracy once said, if you read 30-60 minutes a day, five days a week, you will read on average a book in a week. That will translate to about thirty to fifty books a year. If you read about fifty books a year on a subject, you will get the equivalent of a PhD in that field in about a year. You can get the equivalent of a million-pound idea just from a book but you never know which book will give you the insight unless you read widely. All you have to do is keep reading lots of material and ever so often, one observation will jump off the page and your whole life will change. One idea from a book combined with a thought in your mind plus the right opportunity can totally transform your life.

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them. (Mark Twain)

If we say we want to be great leaders, according to Jim Rohn, the first thing we must do is to check our library. Why? Because what we read pours massive ingredients into our mental factory and the fabric of our life is built on those ingredients.

A real book is not one that we read, but one that reads us. I heard that if you put your arm in a sling for six months without using it; it will atrophy. What do you think will happen to your brain if you don't read challenging, thought-provoking or stimulating books in a year?

You cannot think more deeply than your vocabulary will allow you to. (Robert Niederholer)

At the end of the day a man’s most valuable possessions are his books and journals which contain not just chronicles of the days lived but his greatest insights and deepest thoughts plus his reflections upon the collected books and upon his life. (Andrew Eyeoyibo)

Reading can make you a more interesting individual. Those who are well-read are likely to be quite knowledgeable and interesting. The book-knowledge just seeps from them. Even if they don't always know all the details, they can often converse on some of the most interesting literary topics! It's true! If you've read a great deal, you'll have a conversation piece on many topics wherever you find yourself. Another benefit of reading which is probably quite obvious is that you become a better scholar or writer when you read. It is a fact that reading more will improve your writing skills and develop your knowledge. In addition, reading excellent books improves your vocabulary by adding to the 'word-bank' in your brain and deepens your thinking.

Published bestsellershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10490468347023769749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6746380364182415705.post-39553987053735312742023-11-16T07:54:00.006+00:002023-11-18T11:59:16.596+00:00No pleasure so lasting

The ability to read is an awesome gift, enabling you not just to perform tasks like reading the instructions for the use of new electrical equipment, or reading the signs to where you’re going or reading the label on a can of food in the supermarket, but so you can enjoy life through reading jokes, letters, prose, poetry etc.

If you want to travel but can't afford the ticket, through reading you can imagine walking along a sandy and sunny seashore, skiing down snowy mountain slopes, sleeping in a field of flowers, or adventuring in an African Safari. Your holiday destinations are quite frankly practically limitless.

No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting. (Mary Wortley Montagu)

Books are magical, people can find a new world through the power of the written word. Books have a certain kind of enchantment about them; they are able to catapult you to a different world in the twinkling of an eye. Between the covers of a book exists a sort of paradise. All you have to do is add a little ingredient called imagination and you can feel the magic everywhere. You don’t have to be a child to enjoy the thrill of reading; you need only the imagination and enthusiasm of youth and you’re halfway there.

I love reading, and paradise for me is settling down in front of the fireplace on a cold winter evening (with a sweet snack and a hot cup of decaffeinated green tea) to read a good book. I love to suck out the life and marrow from a good book like a dog with a juicy bone. There is nothing that I enjoy more than gleaning wisdom from writings of wise men and women. For me this is like a conference of great minds being ignited and exploding in revelation. Or it could just be getting captivated in a fascinating story; riding the waves, feeling the breeze, and enjoying the thrill of a good adventure novel. Reading is one of the most enjoyable activities in life. Reading novels, short stories, poems, and plays provide good quality lasting entertainment. As you read through the pages you may well find that a kind of peaceful paradise exists between the covers of books.

Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life. (Stephen King)

When I read great literature, great drama, speeches, or sermons, I feel that the human mind has not achieved anything greater than the ability to share feelings and thoughts through language. (James Earl Jones)

Published bestsellershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10490468347023769749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6746380364182415705.post-2567685895817614192023-11-16T07:54:00.005+00:002023-11-18T11:58:47.913+00:00A real life-transforming habit

Reading is life-transforming and can help us achieve our full potential and lead a richer life. Reading can transform your life because the more you read, the more you know. The more you read, the more you can imagine. The more you read, the better you understand other people and this can help enhance your relationships and consequently improve your life.

When the message of a book is rightly phrased, it could pass your defences, enter your heart and explode silently and effectively within your mind and change you from the inside out. The Bible is generally accepted by Christians as God’s word to humankind. That being the case, one could say God chose to communicate his thoughts to humanity through a book. Millions are known to have been greatly inspired and transformed by it.

A reader today; a leader tomorrow. ( W. Fusselman)

I suggest that the only books that influence us are those for which we are ready and which have gone a little further down our particular path than we have gone ourselves. (E. M. Forster)

There are a few simple habits you can cultivate in life that really have the potential to change your life; reading good books is one of such habits. Reading has such a capacity to transform life; it has the ability to unlock a wealth of treasure and greatness from within an individual. Through reading, you can rub minds with the greatest thinkers of all time. You can share in the wisdom of the greatest minds that ever walked the surface of the earth simply by reading their books. Through reading, you access the knowledge and wealth of wisdom of the author’s mind. You also become a partaker of the rapturous moments of inspiration enjoyed by the writer. You can even experience and enjoy ‘divine’ moments of insight akin to a spiritual experience, simply by reading a book.

Published bestsellershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10490468347023769749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6746380364182415705.post-27060055772504677372023-11-16T07:54:00.004+00:002023-11-18T11:58:36.714+00:00The most powerful habit for success

It doesn't matter how huge a door is: if you have the right key, the door will open. The habit of reading is the key that will open many doors. Books are idea containers, books are liberators. Countries ruled by oppressors try to prevent people from reading or monitor what people can read. You maintain oppression by maintaining ignorance. Knowledge is light. Therefore if you want to keep people in darkness, keep knowledge away from them; keep books away from them; in other words keep them ignorant. The saying: if you want to keep something away from a fool, hide it in a book, comes to mind.

Research shows that mental activity boosts resistance to dementia. Study after study has found that older people who were mentally engaged doing things like reading and writing, or taking part in hobbies or games, stayed mentally sharper and were less at risk of Alzheimer's than those who were not. While keeping your mind active generally seemed to go together with greater mental sharpness, this does not apply to watching television. Watching television over long periods tends to sap mental energies. Studies show that watching television reduces arousal while reading boosts arousal and this arousal of the brain protects it. Other brain-arousing and -protecting activities include mentally demanding jobs (not excessively stressful), education and maintaining a social network. Many hundreds of studies have shown that mice and rats which are kept in cages with a variety of objects to explore show much better memory and cognitive abilities than those kept in standard, relatively austere environment. What's more, they also grow extra brain cells! When we face challenges, including mental challenges, our brains release a chemical called noradrenaline to help sharpen our perception and decision-making process. Noradrenaline is a brain-enhancing disease-combating chemical that is released in tiny doses hundreds of millions of times over a lifetime. This 'wonder drug' is produced naturally in our brains as a result of environmental factors like mental stimulation or challenge, a novel situation, social interactions and memories retrieved (e.g. through studying for exams). Brain connections are strengthened and brain networks grow as a result of the beneficial effects of millions of mini-infusions of noradrenaline triggered by mental stimulation or challenge. If mental challenge builds brains through noradrenaline release, then anything that diminishes that challenge (e.g. television) could do the opposite.

Published bestsellershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10490468347023769749noreply@blogger.com
